6-27 SS Rifles

Replica antique, single shot rifles which are handmade for big game hunting. Why single shot?

C. Sharps Arms Co. in Big Timber MT has been in business for over 30 years producing the best in quality and accuracy to better serve their customers, whether they be recreational or target shooters, hunters, or firearms aficionados or historians. Here’s Kathy Snyder.  “We make replica, antique, single shot rifles. The Sharps rifles were manufactured starting in the 1850s and were produced primarily for the Civil War and the early buffalo hunting days. Christian Sharps went bankrupt and went out of business in the 1870s after the war and most of the buffalo were gone and there was no continuation of the family of Sharps. So John, my boss, says he took a perfectly good hobby and ruined it by re-engineering the old guns so he could make them now. So our parts fit original guns because they took them apart and machined them. What is the thinking of a guy who takes a single shot rifle hunting big game? Is it the sportsmanship, fairness, rather than the semiautomatic going bang bang bang. Well you could take a machine gun out into the field and kill a whole bunch couldn’t you but I think there is some  nostalgia, tradition but by and large when these guys go hunting mean critters they typically have a guide or back up. We have all kinds of photos from hunters who went sheep hunting in Alaska and things like that.
