7-26 SS Etiquette

Not to go all high toned on you, but there is such a thing as good manners, respect, etiquette when it comes to your favorite fishing spot. So will have a lesson in etiquette next. Think of being on the golf course with your putter and a 10 foot distance to the hole. Just as you are about to putt, somebody walks across your line. How do you think you would react? Probably not in a way that we can broadcast. Same thing when you’re fishing the river. Here’s Josh Mills to talk about etiquette while flyfishing. “With the return of this year’s summer run steelhead to the East side of the state of Washington and into Idaho and so on and so forth, it brings out a lot of anglers and a lot of pressure to the system. If you can fall good angling etiquette then everything works out just fine. The people who go against the grain and don’t follow good angling etiquette ruffle some feathers in the angling community. Remind yourself when you are out on the river do yourself a favor and follow the rules like when you encounter another angler on the water, cold behind them, don’t low hole them and cut them off. Usually what happens is you should work on a downstream step by step process with the water. Don’t go upstream, work downstream from the other anglers. Engage in a friendly conversation and ask them if it’s okay if you jumped in behind them and follow them down the run. Nothing is worse than you follow all the rules and then have a guy who low holes you and basically screws up the whole system.
