8-17 SS Mic's Angler

Mic’s Angler Adventures is a private charter operator that goes out of Umatilla and works the Columbia River. Mic McIntyre owns the operation and is absolutely full of information.  Fall Chinook just opened up so you can keep Chinook  in the  Columbia River below and above McNary Dam that are not tagged. So if you catch a Chinook salmon it does not have to be  pin clipped.  So it doesn’t catch and release is that what you are saying? That is exactly what I am saying.  Steelheads are going to be open also.  A good place is McNary dam below and above. If you go below you can use a flat fish. They have been catching a lot of close on the silver color with the green on each end, chartreuse, and above the dam they are catching a lot of steelhead on both roe and they are also using a Brads super bait, they are using a Brads wiggle warts, not the mag warts or the wee warts, the red in color, herringbone, trolling above the dam, what about Sturgeon? Well Sturgeon is closed for the year up until January but you can catch a lot of oversized this time of year below McNary dam, I think they just opened it up for catch and release above the 395 bridge, from 395 bridge on up it is open for catch and release, I think that started on July 30th.
