8-29 SS Fish Finder

A fishfinder but it’s not one you find in your boat, it’s on the Internet. Well, our friend Josh Mills, has done it again.  Want to find some fish? No problem. Listen up.  “If you are a salmon or steelhead nut like myself, one of the things that you can do to monitor the progress of runs up the Columbia and Snake river system is check out online FPC.org which is the Fish Passage Center. Each dam that these fish encounter, they monitor how many and what species per day go over each dam. For instance, most of the charting begins at Bonneville and the last ones all the way up into Priest Rapids, Lower Granite dam and now the Bonneville dam counts just reached 6000 per day. You can even see wild fish versus hatchery thin clipped fish, there is a person sitting there every day at every damn going click, click, click every time these fish go over the fish ladders. You can see and monitor the progress. And if you are wondering if it is the right time to go and fish for steelhead wherever you are located, let’s  say it’ in the Klickitat over by Goldendale or if you are waiting for the fish to get over Lower Granite, you can really see the progress of the run. The same thing happens for spring Chinook, Sockeye over by Wenatchee or if you are trying to find fish up by Cherry Lane Bridge on the Clearwater, this will show you where the fish are going. And you can track the progress of each run. Check it out again. It is the Fish Passage Center and you can Google it.
