10-21 SS Wolf Response

10-21 SS Wolf Response

It’s nice to know that someone is listening out there and who is going to our website AgInfo.net to give us feedback. I got an e-mail from Ramona Phillips regarding a story that I had recently aired concerning her battle with wolves attacking her livestock.  Here’s part of what she said: “Well it is a big deal and if it was happening to them… my son is serving in Afghanistan right now, he is a Marine, and he is asking what freedom am I fighting for if my folks can’t protect their own private property.” Comment: I was surprised to hear myself on your program, but pleased to have attention placed on the problems we are having with wolves in Oregon and in particular in Wallowa County where I live. A kill order was issued to kill two of our problem wolves, but almost immediately an injunction was put on it by various groups. These same groups have told ranchers to abide by the Oregon Wolf Plan, but are now trying to use the ESA to supercede the same Wolf Plan. Meantime we continue to lose livestock on private property and our hunters see more wolf tracks than game. I am part of a five-member group who are trying to educate the public with the facts. Our website is still in it's infancy, but you can find us on Oregon Wolf Eucation.org Thank you, Ramona
