11-16 SS Wolf Pressure

11-16 SS Wolf Pressure

We hear it all the time. In Idaho it comes from sources as high as Gov. Otter write down to the everyday hunter. Wolves are raising the Dickens.

They were on the endangered species list but they shouldn’t be any longer. Here is lifetime hunter Craig Clark with his own account of the impact wolves are having on big game.  We have seen evidence of wolves in the area. We have seen wolves chasing elk and in one instance there was a logging road which we will walk back in on and a wolf had pulled an elk down in the middle of the road and consumed it right there. Have you actually witnessed a wolf or a wolf pack taking on an elk? I have seen them chasing elk, I have not seen an actual takedown. Your reaction to the elk population as it relates to  wolves? The elk population is suffering. Every year since they have introduced wolves in Idaho we have witnessed a very sharp decline in the elk herds and I think it is all due to the wolf population. What about deer, same thing? I know deer have their ups and downs but same thing, my son has even said we used to go out hunting and we would see 20 deer in the morning and it is getting tough to find any game now. I really think the wolves are having a detrimental effect on all of our game herds.
