Binoculars come in very handy when you're looking for antler sheds so I called up Sportsman's Warehouse Sales Associate, John, and asked for his recommendation. "As far as the optics go, they differ from company two company because they're trying to get around each other's patents on their glass. They all put different film coatings on their glass so the best thing to do is come in and take a look. Look through four or five different brands, figure a price range, then find out what kind of power you need like a 10 x 42. The first number is your magnification and the second number is your lens diameter. The larger the lens, the more light that it lets through and then the clearer it is to look through. If I get above a 12 power then they get shaky. You can see half-mile away but it is hard to stay stable at that distance. If you're using a tripod for that method then you might as well get a spotting scope which would give you something you can look a mile out with and then you need a tripod for that. The powers in a spotting scope on much greater than you would ever need for looking for antler sheds. I'd recommend a 10 x 42. The cost is anywhere from $100 up to $1100 in the 10 x 42's.
