Broadheads

Right now archery season's about a month away in most states. Archery hunters are getting their bows tuned in. I called up Tom Hahn at Sportsman's Warehouse and asked about his recommendation for broad heads. Then Tom took it away.  "I'd want to use whatever is flying the best out of my bow. It's almost like rifle hunting. You want to find the right grain bullet and the right powder to get the best performance. It's not going to be just grabbing off-the-shelf and go kind of thing. I want to know what shoots the best. Right now I am using the Striker 100s. I used to use the Thunderhead 85 grains out of my bow but since I bumped my poundage up about 3 pounds from where I was, the 85 grains weren't flying as well, it's amazing how touchy they can be. So I did increase the nose weight by going to 100 grain. In today's broad heads the shorter feral where your blades are connected actually fly better and truer so you don't have to use as much tuning technique going from field points to broad heads.
