With spring comes bear season and I don't know anybody had rather talk with than old acquaintance and gun expert from Sportsmen's Warehouse than Al Strupp. Gave him a shout to ask for advice on all of you folks behalf. "You have to draw first and get your tag. It's a draw not an automatic. You will have to buy an entry permit from the state and try and draw the area you want to hunt. Once you get that you will need your general hunting license and then whatever gun you are going to use. What do you suggest? I'd look at something in a 30 caliber or larger for bear and you should be okay. Anything above that, standard 30:06, :308... You can kill there was smaller rifles but that would be where I would go. I might even go heavier and get into a: 338. You will want a good pair of binoculars and a spotting scope cause you're going to need to go out and find them. You'll find them in clearcuts. They're going to be coming out of hibernation and they will be looking for grass. They'll be eating a lot of grass initially to get their stomachs working back again like they are supposed to be.
