Good friend Britta Lindsay tells us a rare hunting story that is literally spiritual. "It was a beautiful crisp fall day and we had hiked to the top of a mountain not seeing anything and my hunting partner and I had split off and I was just enjoying the sunshine. I found a flat rock, lay down and had fallen asleep. I was startled a little while later and I thought it was my hunting partner just annoying me and I woke up and the nose of an elk was on my face. I was terrified. It was a scary experience. There was a small herd of cows and it was definitely the largest cow and the site of this incredible being was just amazing to me. It was so big I thought for a minute it was a moose because I had only seen elk from 300 yards away. She almost seemed very smart. I had never placed that kind of intelligence in an animal before. It was very gentle, kind of like what was I doing? Well you are a mother and the cow was undoubtedly a mother, so it was a mother bonding experience. It was. Probably the most spiritual experience I've ever had.
