I called Sportsmen's Warehouse Sales Associate Keith McDowell and asked about spring walleye fishing. "I don't do a lot because the nearest walleye fishing for me is 200 miles away. Around here, most of the guys are dragging worm harnesses. There are multiple brands, Lindy, Northland Tackle, all kinds, JB Lures makes them. Lots of different worm harnesses with blades. Just hook up a nightcrawler to a bottom bouncer. Depth is going to play a big key. Normally this time of the year, Fisher and 14 to 20 feet of water but this year they were a little bit deeper. I was getting them from 25 to 32 feet. It was just a game of dragging worm harnesses 1 mph. I find the fish on the grass on the fish finder and just drag those harnesses right through there about 1 mph, .7 mile-per-hour to 1.2 mph. As long as that worm stays off the bottom, we are in that strike zone.
