If you remember the story from yesterday, Dawn Nelson’s dad had shot a bear on the edge of a steep ravine and asked his dutiful daughter to go down and drag it to the bottom where he would meet her. “I couldn’t see the bear at all, as far as I was looking. It was a good 400 feet down into the bottom of the ravine. I said let’s go down and see if we can find him and dad said, why don’t you take my belt, go down and drag him down as far as you can get him and I’ll meet you at the bottom. I didn’t even shoot the bear and now I’m dragging him out. He said if you are a loving daughter you will do this for me. I am a loving daughter so I did it. I took his belt and headed down into the ravine but kept thinking, dad said he shot him and the bear tumbled down, but he didn’t say that he knew he had killed him. I’m walking down and I’m thinking what if the bear is only injured, all I have is this belt to beat him with. This is really stupid. I get down to the bottom of the draw and I see the bear. I got a long stick and I poked him and yes he was dead. I pulled out the belt wrapped it around his neck and pulled and tugged toward the bottom of the ravine. At one point the belt broke, so I took off my bra and dragged him the rest of the way. My dad met me at the bottom with his four wheeler.
