Josh Mills has advice if you’re taking your watercraft out of the water. “Recently I was fishing with my father for bass and had a spectacular day of catching smallmouth on streamers and mouse patterns. Had a great time and it turned out to be great table fare. At the end of the day we were coming into the takeout. It’s a state run takeout. There’s a gravel pit there and it is one that we have always used. Picture vee. You go down and then immediately back up gravel bar. You backup up and you pull your raft out and away you go.Tthis time, the river had carved a little bit more out of the bottom of the downhill section of the launch. I went into it and immediately buried my truck hitch and trailer. In front of me was just pea gravel so everything was completely stuck. This was an area that did not have a lot of services or people. We went from 7:30 PM to 9 PM trying to dig out of my truck. We were saved by a nice couple, Sen. Mike Hewitt and his wife Cory who happened to be there and we were able to get a truck jack. We jacked the truck up, took the trailer off and pushed it back up onto the flat. Then he took his razor and pulled me on to the gravel bar.
