Those of you that have been listening to Sportsmen's Spotlight for a while know that I have a passion for hockey having grown up in Canada and playing all my life, college and a pretty competitive senior travel team for years. I've gotten a few pretty highly placed NHL players on the show who love hunting and fishing, Mike Babcock, coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dennis Hextall, a former star with the Detroit Red Wings. But recently, I got on the phone with former Los Angeles Kings All-Star Bernie Nicholls and during the course of our conversation I heard that he grew up in a family that ran an outfitting service in Ontario. "We owned a hunting camp up in Ontario where he guided for years and my brother and I still guide there to this day. We do a bear hunt in September and spring and fall and moose in October, Whitetail deer in November. We take them in, set them up, chances are good that me and my brother, if you shoot a bear we will track it through the bush. Most of the time it's at night. I've come across some that are still alive which is a lot of fun in the middle of the night. The moose hunt, you have to be an Ontario native to come moose hunting but the deer hunt, we definitely can take you deer hunting, we use dogs. On the bear hunt, I set you up and I would be with you. I'd go track your bear, get your bear, my brother cleans them, skins them out for you, we do everything. Redsbearhunt.com
