The Blue Marlin Grand Championship takes place in Orange Beach, Ala. each summer and I talked with Chris Ferrera who landed an 845-pound blue marlin. “Out here in Idaho where we fish for steelhead, trout and salmon, give us an idea what it is like to go fishing for blue Marlin. This is something from a preparation standpoint, it has a ton to do with getting linked up with the right boat and in that situation for people who travel down to this area getting set up with a charter because you are running to where that blue water is and it is ever changing so it is a current situation but your captains know we have to run 120 miles Southwest to get to where the bait and blue water are to have a better chance of catching these huge fish. It is captains, it is mates, it is other anglers with you. As you might be flyfishing or lightweight tackle fishing for trout and other things, you are doing 50 wide Penn international reels or big giant Shimano reels where the hardware, what you are using, is to get you something equivalent to be able to catch a 700 pound fish.
