Welcome to Open Range, I’m Susan Allen. Stay tuned because after the break I’ll check in with our field reporter, Greg Martin for the AgriBeef Minute.

I’m Greg Martin with the Open Range AgriBeef Minute. Daren Williams, Executive Director, Spokesperson Development at National Cattlemen’s Beef Association says consumers want to know more about where their food comes from and even more importantly who produces it.

WILLIAMS: So the masters of beef advocacy program is really about connecting with those consumers, connecting them with farmers and ranchers - the people who are producing the food so that we can have a conversation about food production.

He says there are a lot of these conversations going on and they want farmers to be a part of that. That’s where the free Masters of Beef Advocacy or MBA program comes in.

WILLIAMS: So signing up for the MBA program gives an outlet for farmers and ranchers no matter where you live to engage in a conversation with consumers where they live; online, in big cities and answer their questions.

The MBA is a online program that really anyone can take.

WILLIAMS: It’s a series of 6 courses that you go through in beef nutrition, beef safety, environmental stewardship, animal care - really designed to address the questions consumers have in each of those areas. Because when consumers go to the meat case today they are thinking more than just is this going to be a great steak.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m Susan Allen.
