Agribusiness Update for Monday 1/28/13

A group of Senators are trying to ensure agriculture is a priority in trade discussions between the U.S. and European Union. Chuck Grassley, Pat Roberts, Mike Enzi and John Thune have requested a Senate Finance Committee hearing with U.S. trade negotiators to better understand their working-group efforts with EU officials.

A proposed rule for labeling mechanically tenderized beef products is under extended review at the White House Office of Management and Budget. The rule has been under review for more than three months. OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs is supposed to complete reviews within 30 to 90 days.

The U.S. Grains Council’s 2012 Annual Report is now available online. The report includes success stories from the year, video highlights, photographs and market profiles from more than 25 countries and regions. The market profiles include supply and demand charts, market growth potential and highlights from Council programs in each country.
