This is the Agribusiness Update...I’m Greg Martin...

Another USDA employee is leaving. Under Secretary for Rural Development Dallas Tonsager says he is moving on to the next chapter in his life. Ag Secretary Vilsack says Tonsager’s service to USDA under the Obama Administration was the latest part of a distinguished career of service to agriculture and rural America.

New analysis conducted by Informa Economics, Inc. shows that the Renewable Fuel Standard and its associated RIN credits have not played a role in this spring’s higher retail gas prices. In fact - the study found ethanol costs significantly less than gasoline at the wholesale level and is reducing prices at the pump for consumers across the country.

A bi-partisan congressional group has sent a letter to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and Office of Management and Budget Director Jeffrey Zients questioning why the Obama Administration is retroactively subjecting Secure Rural School (SRS) payments to the fiscal year 2013 sequester, requesting repayment of $17.9 million in SRS and 25% fund payments that have already been disbursed to States.
