Oregon has taken a couple of major steps to help integrate some of the thousands of immigrants living in the state illegally. A new law signed by the governor grants resident tuition at public universities for those who can’t prove citizenship and a bill was introduced making it possible for people living in the state without documentation to obtain driver’s licenses valid for four years.

Existing international agreements are breaking down barriers to trade according to a series of reports. Acting U.S. Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis - the Obama Administration has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to opening markets for American products and services abroad.

A coalition of more than 200 rural, faith, consumer and environmental organizations from 45 states are urging USDA to protect the integrity of Country of Origin Labeling for meat products. Proposed rules would ensure all meat from animals born, raised and processed in the U.S. will bear a “born, raised and slaughtered in the USA’ label.
