More than 150 organic, natural and family farm groups and related businesses recently called for improvements in USDA’s oversight of experimental trials of genetically engineered crops. According to the groups - the discovery of unapproved GE wheat in an Oregon field underscores the difficulty of completely containing GE crops and the inadequacy of U.S. policy to protect vulnerable markets that reject GE wheat.

The EPA has released a new series of public service videos on climate change. A range of related topics - including the causes and impacts of climate change, actions Americans can take to reduce their impact and the benefits to the economy of addressing climate change are covered.

Technomic Inc.’s 2013 Volumetric Assessment of Pork in Foodservice shows pork is hot - having become the foodservice industry’s fastest-growing protein in each of the past two years. According to the most recent study - pork sold through foodservice outlets reached a record-breaking 9.25-billion pounds - a volume increase of 462-million pounds over 2011.
