Agribusiness Update for Friday 10/11/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report scheduled for release tomorrow will not be issued due to the lapse in federal funding. USDA won't issue the latest crop report either. The Associated Press reported this week on the vacuum of information about farm markets created by the government shutdown - and how that's making it tough for farmers and ranchers to make decisions.

Farmers continue to work and harvest their crops despite the government shutdown - and no USDA reports. DTN Senior Ag Meteorologist Bryce Anderson estimates harvest for corn and soybeans probably didn't move much beyond 20-percent complete this past week - mostly due to wet weather across most of the Midwest.

U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman says world trade ministers may discuss the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership around the time of a World Trade Organization meeting that will begin December 3rd. The TPP talks - now three-years-old - involve 12 countries and are purposed to establish a free-trade bloc from Vietnam to Chile to Japan.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
