Agribusiness Update for Wednesday 12/04/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

While the farm bill seems to be stalled - there is optimism among members of the Conference Committee that a measure will be passed soon. House and Senate Agriculture Committee leaders were unable to reach an agreement before the Thanksgiving recess - but continued to talk last week. This week - discussions will continue - and although the Senate is still on recess - Senate members of the conference committee have been told they could be called back to Washington for an open conference meeting on the bill.

USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service is opening the Conservation Stewardship Program for new enrollments for fiscal year 2014. Those producers interested in participating can submit applications through January 17th.

Far West Agribusiness Association in cooperation with Risk Management & Engineering Ltd. will be offering a no cost "desk audit" of your company's Risk Management Plan during the FWAA Conference December 9-11, 2013 at the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco, Washington.  You must be a registered conference attendee in order to qualify for this review.
