Agribusiness Update for Tuesday 12/10/13

This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

StockPot, Inc., out of Everett, Wash., is recalling over 1,800 cases of chicken noodle soup due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The Classic Chicken Noodle Soup product is formulated with wheat, a known allergen.  However, the product was released with a Loaded Baked Potato Style Soup side label, which does not declare this allergen. It was shipped to Oregon and Washington distribution sites for retail only.

Oregon's Governor Kitzhaber has thrown his hat into the ring once again. The three time governor is seeking an unprecedented fourth term stating that he wants to finish what he started. Kitzhaber served two terms - was out for 8 years and won reelection. Republicans Dennis Richardson, a state representative from Central Point, and Jon Justesen, a rancher from Eastern Oregon, have announced plans to challenge him in 2014.

Congressional budget negotiators have until Friday to finish their work for the year - and they are reportedly closing in on a proposal for next year. But according to the Washington Post - the deal would not include any significant tax or entitlement reforms - nor would it seriously deal with the sequester cuts.
