This is the Agribusiness Update...I'm Greg Martin...

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the model of agricultural production that predominates today is not suitable for the new food security challenges of the 21st century. FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva said it means that the way we are producing is no longer acceptable. While the FAO says the numbers of the chronically hungry have been reduced by 100 million over the past decade, but there are still 805 million people without enough to eat on a regular basis.

The U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba will lead more than 75 leaders from across the U.S. agriculture industry on a learning journey to Cuba during the first week of March. The trip will include meetings with Cuban business and government leaders, as well as interaction with Cuban farmers and agricultural cooperatives to expand understanding of the Cuban agricultural economy. The coalition was formed in early 2014 to call for an end to the current embargo, which would continue the tremendous momentum of U.S. agricultural exports and boost opportunity for U.S. and Cuban agriculture.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network of the West.
