Funding is now available through the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service Regional Conservation Partnership Program to improve U.S. water quality, combat drought, enhance soil health, support wildlife habitat and protect agricultural viability. The 235-million dollars will fund the second round of projects through the RCPP program. The initiative allows local partners the opportunity to design and invest in conservation projects specifically tailored for their communities.

USDA sent a farm bill-required study to the House and Senate Agriculture Committees last week that says Country-of-Origin Labeling has no economic benefit to the meat industry. House Ag Chair Mike Conaway says it's perplexing that USDA would ignore basic facts and put forward an approach that would only serve to exacerbate the current situation. That approach is a generic mandatory label option. This approach doesn't help producers or consumers and does nothing to mitigate the threat of retaliation since it has already been rejected by U.S. trading partners.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network of the West.
