Without a question one of the biggest issues that’s being discussed here in Washington, DC this week at the NCBA’s Spring Legislative Conference is trade and what any disruptions would mean for the U.S. beef cattle industry.

Kent Bacus is the NCBA’s International Trade Director and tells us why the NCBA is such a big supporter of trade.

“Trade agreements like NAFTA has created a $1 billion export markets for U.S. beef in both Canada and Mexico. Last year, U.S. beef made its return to the huge Chinese market after a 13-year absence and thru the last six months of 2017, we sold over $30 million of U.S. beef to China. Beef exports account for around $300 a head for the industry. We also support open markets and a level playing field in international agreements.”
