Ivelisse Colon of North Carolina Cooperative Extension suggests popping a new book, toy or coloring book in your child's basket next to a smaller amount of candy this year. You don't have to cut out chocolate completely but you can reduce the portion size.

Colon also suggests looking at portion size for candy and chocolates. You can also dole out treats over a longer time.

There are plenty of ways to get active by looking up Easter Egg hunts in your area. A few fun and healthy events we noticed at Colorado Ag Today include.

The Hop & Hops Easter 5k - Peak to Peak - The untimed relaxed run begins and ends at the Aurora brewery. You don't have to be 21 to run in the race that also raises funds for local non profits.

Enjoy a beautiful Easter Sunday with friends and family, and meet the Easter Bunny aboard the Royal Gorge Route Railroad's Easter Train.

The world's largest Easter Egg Hunt at Copper Mountain. This one is huge with 65,000 eggs and 2,500 acres! As part of the reduce, reuse, recycle movement, Copper encourages participants to turn empty eggs back in to be re-loaded for reuse in future years. There are different hunts for kids of all ages from 3 and under in Copper's Center Village to adults in an on-mountain hunt for (12) golden eggs.
