**Organic farmers will harvest a record number of acres across the U.S. this year despite the weather and trade challenges.

According to the Mercaris Annual Acreage Report, farmers will harvest 3.1 million acres of U.S. land certified organic, up 7 percent over 2018.

The increase is driven by a surge in new certified organic field crop operations across the nation.

The Western U.S. and High Plains regions saw the largest jump in organic acreage.

**While total volume of exports continues to lag, led by a decline in China, exports to other parts of the world, especially Mexico, continue to grow.

According to milkbusiness.com, U.S. exporters shipped nearly 48,000 metric tons of milk powders, cheese, whey, lactose and butterfat to Mexico in July, up 12% from a year ago. VALUE of dairy exports to Mexico was up 30%.

Exports to the Middle East, North Africa and South America were higher as well.

**It doesn't appear President Trump will back down in the trade war with China, and that, according to National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow, could push the conflict on for years.

He tells agrimarketing.com, the fight to get China to change its ways in international trade and intellectual property protection has already gone on for more than a year, but could be just the beginning.

Kudlow says he's still hopeful significant progress can be made in upcoming negotiations.
