The Colorado Farm Bureau Foundation has activated its disaster relief fund to support farmers and ranchers who have been affected by the many fires burning throughout Colorado.

Shawn Martini with the Farm Bureau says based on the way the weather patterns are going the fires are likely to continue to pop up and burn through the rest of the summer...so it's hard to estimate how many farmers and ranchers will need some financial help.

"It's probably in the several dozens range but the fires are still burning. And a lot of mop up operations are just starting."

He says folks who are impacted by the fires will have an opportunity to submit an application for assistance from the fund detailing their loss. The Farm Bureau's Board will form a committee to determine based on how much money has been donated, how much money can go toward helping the farmers and ranchers recoup their losses.

Martini adds that one hundred percent of donations will be distributed to agriculture producers who have suffered losses due to these fires.
