Idaho farmers do a great deal of irrigating from spring through fall which as we all know is expensive. That said, we have found a way for you to perhaps save a lot of money long term. Propane Education and Research Council Director of Business Development and Marketing Mark Leitman says says propane irrigation engines are very cost effective. Natural gas production is on the rise in the U.S. - and Leitman says propane comes from that stream. He says there's an abundance of American-made propane... 2013 was a successful year for the Propane Farm Incentive Program. there were a record number of applicants - well over 300. Leitman says the dominant technology enrolled in the program was propane irrigation engines. "We had some really amazing results from 148 farmers who participated in 16 states and over all those farmers reported reduced fuel consumption by 37% per hour compared with the diesel engines that they replaced. Our technology allows us to do the same things as diesel technology but with reduced cost. Tank placement isn't an issue, there is an abundance of tanks."
