Welcome to Washington Ag Today, I'm Susan Allen next week will mark the 86th Washington FFA youth convention. This years event starts next Thursday and runs through Saturday the 14th, in Pullman on the WSU campus. Future Farmers of America" was founded by a group of young farmers back in 1928 with a mission to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. Today they like to say that along with the Future Farmers of America. They are Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs .For more information on the convention go to Washingtonffa.org

It's that time of the year when farmers are moving equipment to the fields I spoke with Eric Vanasdale, senior loss control representative for COUNTRY Financial®: who reminds farmers to put safety first . Roadway safety is a two way street. Farmers know how much space they are taking up on the road and it's there right to be there as well but they can do a lot by watching out for the motorists on the road who don't understand how much room they take so make sure all the flashers are working try to avoid high traffic times, rush hour after work, watch dusk and dawn almost all the accidents we see come at dusk and dawn when the sun is in people eyes so little changes the farmers make can make roads safe for everybody.

Both farmers and drivers will need to adjust to having agricultural equipment on rural highways and county roads once again
