02/15/05 Larsen stays on ag cmte: Cowman`s Classic

Wash Ag February 15, 2005 U.S. Representative Rick Larsen has announced that he will continue serving on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. The Second District Congressman says that as the only member from Washington state on the House Agriculture Committee, it is important for him to continue providing a strong voice for northwest farmers. He will maintain his seats on the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee and the Livestock and Horticulture Subcommittee. Next Tuesday, February 22nd is the Cowman's Classic All Breed Bull Sale in Spokane. The sale, sponsored by state and regional breed associations, will be held at one p.m. next Tuesday at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds. Sale manager Gary Kendall of Potlatch, Idaho, says they have 97 bulls consigned. Kendall: "We think we offer a few extra things to people. One is they are halter broke. They come from a variety of programs where you can see a variety of genetics and we have all breeds there." Kendall says the judge and graders and sifters are all commercial cattlemen. Kendall: "Jack Burlile, he is down from Payette, Idaho. Then we have Raymond DeRuwe from Dayton and Mike Wieseler from Mesa, Washington. All commercial cattlemen and they will grade and sift those bulls the day prior to the sale." This will be the 21st year for the Cowman's Class All Breed Bull sale. I'm Bob Hoff.
