Good animal management and stewardship are a team sport. That’s the message from Terry Frankhauser Executive Vice President of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association who will moderate the upcoming NIAA/USAHA Forum on Livestock Traceability.

Traceability is intended to track disease animals back to their origin and connect them to all animals they may have come in contact with.

“This Livestock traceability conference comes on the heels of the USDA holding a series of townhalls around the country where they looked closely at the animal disease traceability program implemented a number of years ago currently active for animals over 18 months of age. They are discerning what enhancements need to be made to that section of the program as well as if when how they implement the under 18 month of age protocol. Which will encompass far more animals moving into commerce or state transit. I think this is very timely, it’s fortuitous. It allows for the high level of information that came out of those townhalls to be distilled and evaluated by all segments of the beef cattle industry.”

The forum will look at all typical diseases affecting livestock as well as those that could be intentionally implanted in the US livestock to create chaos and dismantle economic drivers of the country,.

The Strategy Forum will be held September 26 and 27th at the DoubleTree in Denver. All interested parties can find information at www.animalagriculture.org .
