12/27/05 Crop insurance deadlines

Washington Ag December 27, 2005 The sales closing date for USDA's Adjusted Gross Revenue insurance Pilot Program available in central Washington is January 31st. The sales closing date for Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite, available in all Washington counties, was extended to March 15th. But Dave Paul of the USDA's Risk Management Regional Office in Spokane, says don't wait until the last minute if you want this coverage for 2006. Paul: "Get ahead of the risk period and consider the insurance before that risk period actually starts. So don't wait until March 15th on the Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite program." And Paul says there some big changes in both AGR programs particularly in AGR Lite which covers all commodities. Paul: "The coverage limitation was increased from $250,000 to one-million dollars, which means a producer with gross revenue averaging around 1.39 million dollars would be eligible for the highest coverage level." Paul says producers with one commodity can also now qualify for 75% coverage at a 90% payment rate and producers with three commodities can qualify for 80% coverage at a 90% payment rate. He says with the increase in the coverage limitation there is a lot more interest in AGR Lite this year. I'm Bob Hoff.
