I'm Bob Larson. Can anything be passed in Congress in the coming weeks to help America's trade troubles? That's the big question for many in the nation's capital.

U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says he's hearing from many of his Congressional colleagues who got an earful from constituents during the just concluded recess ...

NEWHOUSE ... "Right now, in front of us, the U.S.-Mexico-Canadian trade agreement I think is definitely something that we have a great opportunity to be able to come together and pass on our nation's behalf. I think it's tremendously important."

Newhouse says there is not a more pressing matter ...

NEWHOUSE ... "Mexico has now become our number one trading partner and Canada is number two. So, it just makes so much sense for us to have a trade agreement in place with our two major customers."

And, from the buzz he's hearing around Washington D.C., Newhouse says he's optimistic ...

NEWHOUSE ... "I think that the USMCA, the trade agreement with Mexico and Canada is tremendously important to us and it's ready to go. Mexico has already approved it. Canada is close to doing so and I think that there's been a lot of work done here in Congress, at least it's my understanding is, on the part of the Speaker and some of the majority party to work through some of the issue they have expressed with it."

Tune in tomorrow for more on the trade issues before Congress and the likelihood solutions could be coming in the near term.
