02/28/06 Former CIA director promotes biofuels

Washington Ag February 28, 2006 Former CIA Director James Woolsey believes renewable fuels are the path to take to provide energy security for the United State and he thinks the U.S. is finally getting that message. Woolsey spoke at the 6th Annual Harvesting Clean Energy Conference in Spokane yesterday, where he said a remarkable coalition is developing to support biofuels. Woolsey: "I call what we are doing here building a coalition between the tree-huggers, the do-gooders, the sodbusters, the cheap hawks and the evangelicals. And once you have a coalition of diversity, with the degree of determination that is being evidenced by some of them, you begin to find politicians and all sorts of folks saying, I think there is a parade there. I think I better get out of it and look like I am leading it." Woolsey said that unlike automotive hydrogen, biofuels don't require a Manhatten style research project, can be made from inexpensive feed stocks and can utilize the existing infrastructure for delivery.
