04/10/06 Visions of a farm bill set for Moses Lake

Washington Ag April 10, 2006 An event called Visions of the Federal Farm Bill is being held in Moses Lake later this month. Don Stuart with American Farmland Trust says his organization is presenting the meeting which is being co-sponsored by such organizations as the Washington State Farm Bureau, the Grange, the Washington Association of Wheat Growers, USDA and the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Stuart: "Well it is an effort to share various perspectives and visions on what the next farm bill might involve and maybe what it should involve. What do we expect? What are we facing. And also an effort to share the network of all of the people who are increasingly interested in the farm bill and to try mostly to find some good answers for agriculture." That meeting is April 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Big Bend Community College at the Student Center Auditorium. WSDA Director Valoria Loveland will give an address and Congressman Doc Hastings will speak during lunch. Attendance is free and includes a box lunch. Reserve a space no later than Thursday April 13th by calling 206-226-1914.
