**The House Ag Committee advanced a Republican-led farm bill 34-17 in a vote early Thursday.
While the markup was slowed by partisan fighting, the legislation was approved with the backing of seven Democrats.
Politico says the bill is basically the same as the legislation that advanced out of the committee two years ago.
Ranking Democrat Angie Craig says despite “bipartisan improvements,” the package remains a disappointing farm bill that doesn’t meet the moment.
**Over 12,000 farmers, exhibitors, stakeholders, and media gathered in San Antonio recently for the 2026 Commodity Classic, marking record attendance for the second straight year.
At over 5,100 farmers accounted for almost 43% of the total attendance.
Classic Co-Chair, Rob Shaffer says farmers are looking for practical insights, meaningful policy conversations, and real connections, and the Classic delivers on all three.
The 2027 Commodity Classic will be March 3–5 in New Orleans.
