12/31/08 All good things come to an end

Only a few hours remain and we'll put a wrap on 2008. For me, only a few hours left and I'll wrap up a career behind a microphone that started 45 years ago. For the past eight years it has been a pleasure to get to meet and know many of the men and women who make up the Idaho agricultural community. The folks who work our soil to provide homegrown food, who care for the land, who have a work ethic this country dearly needs, you are the people who actually make something in America. I look around and ask myself often, what do we manufacture or produce in the US these days, other than the safest and best food supply? Please, please don't ever allow the day to come when we have to be dependent on other countries for our food. But, that's off the main subject which is to say that I'm pleased to tell you that David Sparks will be the new voice for Today's Idaho Ag News in 2009. I decided 12 months ago to say goodbye today so I can say hello more often to Keegan, Cameron, Evan, Ava, Riley and our newest grandchild, two week old Owen. We are blessed to have them and all here in the Treasure Valley. Thank you Kelly Allen and the Northwest Ag Info Network for the chance to go out on a high note. I really do hate to give up the most satisfying job I ever had but all good things must come to an end. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
