Colorado Wheat Field Days Begin this Week

Tomorrow begins is the first serval of a series of Colorado Wheat Field Days which will highlight new hard red and hard white winter wheat varieties. CSU Extension Agronomist Dr. Jerry Johnson provides more details about the field day agenda.

Johnson: "This is an annual event where CSU wheat experts travel around Eastern Colorado to try to show varieties that are new and upcoming in comparison to more traditional varieties. The highlight of the program is Dr. Scott Haley who is a CSU wheat breeder who will go variety by variety in our wheat variety trial and explain their attributes. We have a wonderful array of varieties this year — from five different states, from different seed companies plus all the CSU entries that are in the trial itself. Then I go through the sixty page book for these field days — I say a word about that — and then our seed certification and plant variety protection person Rick Novak talks as well."

To find the list of dates , times and locations of these field days go to csucrops.com for a list of locations as well as directions.

These approximately hour long field days will all have either a meal or refreshments included. They are free and you can just show up at the right location and right time for the the field day.
