Each summer Colorado Farm Bureau members gather at their Ag-Issue Summit to discuss this spring’s legislative session, review and discuss their policies as well as look to the future of what issues are happening locally as well as across the state. This year’s summit will be held in Castle Rock July 16th and 17th at the Douglas County Fairgrounds’ Event Center

Colorado Farm Bureau Vice President of Advocacy Shawn Martini shares more details about this year’s Summit presenters

Martini: “We’re going to be hearing from a number of people. One of them is a representative from the Colorado Bankers Association to talk about the impact of low commodity prices on ag lending and what the Colorado Bankers Association and banking in Colorado and the country is trying to do to remain as flexible as they possible can when a lot of producers are suffering through this downturn in commodity prices. We are also hearing from Colorado Dept. of Transportation on their road technology initiative. We’re going to be hearing a little bit about drones and the applications for drone technology and Unmanned Aircraft Systems in agriculture. And also getting a briefing from General Motors. Colorado Farm Bureau was one of the members of the coalition that helped pass some autonomous vehicle legislation here in Colorado this year. So we’re going to get some briefing from GM about how they are going to approach testing autonomous vehicles in the state now that this legislation has passed.”
