Hemp Seed Hard To Find

The 2018 farm bill allowed states to craft regulations to re-legalize hemp production. Many states are now allowing the cultivation of hemp.

Farmer Ben Plunkett operates a hemp farm that focuses on CBD oils, hemp bud and hemp flower, a smokable product. While those are lucrative markets, Plunkett says the best opportunity for producers looks to be in the hemp as grain market.

Larry Smart with Cornell University says demand by farmers for good industrial hemp seed is exploding, but supplies are practically nil.

As far as the nut and seed world goes, hemp seeds are like the straight-A student who's also captain of the football team. A couple of spoonfuls of hemp seeds packs a serious amount of essential nutrients, they're easy to eat and cook with, and they have a pleasantly nutty taste, like a cross between a sunflower seed and a pine nut. And no, they won't get you remotely high.
