06/07/06 CRP sign up results announced

Farm and Ranch June 7, 2006 The USDA announced this week that it will accept one million acres of the 1.4 million offered under the Conservation Reserve Program general sign up held earlier this spring and that CRP participants intend to re-enroll and extend contracts covering 13 million acres set to expire in September of 2007. USDA says offers with an EBI score of at least 242 were acceptable for enrollment under the general sign up which will bring total land in the CRP to 36.68 million acres. In the general sign up in the Pacific Northwest, USDA accepted 197 of 224 offers made in Idaho covering over 15-thousand acres. Latah County had the most offers, 62, and all were accepted. The average rental rate for Idaho was $46.75 cents. In Oregon 117 of 189 offers were accepted covering just over 26 thousand acres. Umatilla County had the most offers and 92 of 98 were accepted covering nearly 20-thousand acres. The average Oregon rental rate was $54.41 cents. Washington had 510 of 615 offers accepted covering nearly 87 thousand acres. Lincoln County had 245 offers accepted covering over 40-thousand acres and all 138 offers in Whitman County were accepted on over 27-thousand acres.
