07/25/05 Pear marketing for `05-`06, Pt. 1

Pear Bureau Northwest has been among several commodity promotion groups that have successfully tapped in the health and fitness marketing realms. Part of Pear Bureau's strategy has focused on having athlete spokespersons promote the benefits of pears as part of a healthy lifestyle. And for the 2005-2006 promotion year, the athletic spokesperson knows a little something about athletics and pears. WEIKING: The website will receive updates and additions including a feature area where the new Pear Bureau athlete spokesperson, U.S. Nordic Ski Team member and Leavenworth native Torin Koos, will post stories and updates on his way to the Winter Olympics in Italy. Part of Pear Bureau's sponsorship of Koos also centers on the athlete's visits to schools and other events as a spokesperson for U.S.A. Pears. But it is one of several new partnerships Pear Bureau will be tapping into for the upcoming promotion season. WEIKING: We will be sponsoring two shows on public broadcasting, "Caprial and John's Kitchen" and "The Head Table". These sponsorships give us product placement in the set décor, pears used in on-air recipes, and logo inclusion in every episode. Since these shows are in syndication, the brand exposure's repeated many times throughout the year. Pear Bureau Northwest also has several new promotion plans in the works for the upcoming season.
