With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. Breaking new ground in Washington state is the first-ever, Industrial Hemp planting ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "So, our event, May 24th, we're very excited about, in Moses Lake, is a Washington Hemp Industry Association event and it's being sponsored by Hemp Logic."

One of the speakers will be Hemp Ace International's Joy Beckerman who says the first legal planting follows passage of the laws ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "We have passed our Industrial Hemp laws in March of 2016. A lot of folks think that we passed Industrial Hemp cultivation when we passed our I-502 marijuana cultivation sale and distribution laws, but we did not. It took four more years."

I ask Beckerman when we should expect the first legal harvest ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "Well, that's also part of why research is going to be so great. It would seem that probably about mid-September is about that time, but we'll see in our different regions, different soils, different climates throughout Washington."

Beckerman says everyone is welcome ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "This is open to the public. There is a $200 cost that, again, $125 of that goes into your membership. Go to Lets Farm Hemp Dot Com and you will be led right to the ability to register for our event. You can certainly search for it on Facebook, How To Farm Hemp, but Lets Farm Hemp Dot Com will get you there. It will be a full day. WSDA, and we're hoping to see some legislators there, certainly the regulators will be there, and we want to see everybody there."

Pre-registration for the all-day event is required. And can be done, again, at Lets Farm Hemp Dot Com.
