Scott Howard of Strike Zone Charters wants to take you fishing for 125 bucks and that is by yourself. “We’re a second generation charter company, my parents started their charter company in 1961, it was called GG charters, I was born in 1963 so I charter fished out of here my whole life, and when I opened my own company I called it Strike Zone. Since then we have offered full-service charter fishing throughout the years. This year and last year I have moved in a new direction and I am doing guided fishing trips and not operating the larger boats. Guided trips, both ocean and river, out of Winchester Bay which is on the Umpqua River through all of the summer and other seasons too. When you say it is big boats, not small boats, is that what you mean? Yes sir. I am just running guide style fishing trips instead of the larger party boat style. I find my clients like the guide style fishing trips far more instead of being on a large boat with hired crew. I get to help my clients myself any knowledge that I have garnered over the years I can pass along to them. Winchester Bay is known for its salmon fishing, if you want to angle for salmon this is the place to be. Through the summer months ocean and river fishing. The $125 is for one half a day but I don’t need a full day to catch a fish.
