7-28 SS Spinone

7-28 SS Spinone

Hey sportsmen.  I have found the perfect dog. Great with families, even babies, and that dog can hunt. I am DS.

The Spinone (spee-NO-nay)  Italiano is an Italian dog breed. Spinone’s are strong muscular dogs, with long faces and human-like eyes. They were originally bred as versatile gun dogs. To this day, the breed still masters that purpose. The Spinone is a loyal, friendly and alert dog with a close lying, wiry coat. Their waterproof coats protect them from cold and water and make them perfect for retrieving in water as in duck hunting. It’s an ancient breed that can be traced back to approximately 500 BC and is traditionally used for hunting, pointing, and retrieving game but, in addition to that purpose, the intelligent and strong Spinone may be practically anything ranging from a companion to an assistance dog. Breeder Joe Masar from New Plymouth Idaho tells us why the Spinone might be considered the “perfect baby boomer hunting dog”: “ As we get older, we don’t hunt maybe as hard or as fast as we used to, so the Spinone is a slower more methodical hunting dog and makes it easier for somebody in the baby boomer category to stay up with them. Well just like the no child left behind, I would presume because it is methodical, there are no birds left behind? Quite often I have had mine hunt with people who have a lot more high-powered faster dogs and they will oftentimes go over the bird and the Spinone will often come behind them and point.”
