 Raptor Archery in Hood River, OR features traditional and primitive bow hunting. Owner Ted Fry, who knows a lot about everything bow and arrow, talked to me the other day about a very non-traditional archery shop in Boise with a non-traditional owner.“His name was Ron Robinson and he was a bowyer, and that is a person who makes bows, and I actually have one of his bows, and I met him, old boy I think it was around 1990, he passed away I think it was 1991, I sat and talked to him for about one half hour before I realized that he only had one lens in his eyeglasses, one lens was gone and I asked him, and he said oh yeah I lost it years ago and I never really had much need for it, and I’m like okay whatever. That being his eye, he never had a need for it is that what you’re saying, well he never had a need for 2 of them he said one was fine. Because when you’re pulling a bowl all you need is one I the other one is close right? Who knows? He was pretty old when I met him. He could have been being cantankerous that day. Anyway he had an archery shop in downtown Boise and at one time it was the old bordello. Well that would’ve made for some interesting hunting. Yeah, even the fact that it was afterwards, just running an archery shop in what used to be a bordello, it kind of had a reputation as being the archery shop in the bordello. Well whether it’s good or bad as long as they are mentioning your name. Exactly. Any time they are mentioning your name, good or bad, at least it keeps you in the limelight.
