8-15 SS Stolen Dogs

I got a fascinating e-mail from my boss Kelly Allen talking about his two sons and their dogs. “I have a stolen hunting dogs story for you.  Last Thursday, Tommy's new 8 month old pup Finley and Austin's 8 yr. old German Short Hair, Scout were both stolen from Tommy's yard.  Looking into this, it is a crime that is growing. Especially right before hunting season, bird dogs start showing up missing. Dogs are stolen from one area transported to another and sold.. Or the dog thief's hold on to the dogs and wait for a reward to be posted for their return. Here is Kelly’s wife Susan with more on the story. “If you leave your dog and run into the grocery store, they say there is a dog theft ring in Bend, Oregon and they want rewards for them. Now all of a sudden I’m getting all of this information saying that it is much more prevalent stealing hunting dogs this time of year than I ever imagined. They are saying keep your dogs locked up, get them micro-chipped, I hear there is even a GPS in a microchip so they can track dogs once they have been taken. The puppy was found about 50 miles from Tommy’s home without a collar by a fisherman along the Snake River and old Scout was found by a farmer later on that night. We think the dug out of wherever these guys had them. The old dogs they would probably dump but the puppy is very saleable. We thought they were getting ready to sell the young one but the old dog digs, he escapes out of everything so they probably dug their way out and got going.
