Tennis playing buddy of mine Nick Koontz revealed his secrets about how to flyfish during salt water angling adventures and I learned that there were some parallels between catching permits and good drop shots. "You have to be able to cast a fly rod in order to catch any salt water fish. You have to be able to double haul cast. You have to be pretty accurate, you can't just go out there and not know what you are and catch one. when people Flyfish they pullback their line and if you just do that again as you are going forward with your rod and pull back your line again so it is too pulls instead of one, that's really what double haul is, it gives you much more power to shoot it out there. you see a lot of people pulled flyfishing and they are back and forth back and forth, that's not good. you want to be able to go back once and shoot out 40 feet of line. Otherwise they swim off.
